Family Guide
California Musical Theatre offers these viewing recommendations to help patrons decide which productions are appropriate for their families. Many children, particularly younger ones, may not have the attention span for most presentations or be interested in the themes of a particular work. This guide takes these factors into consideration as well. Of course, parents know best what is suitable for their children, but please use this guide to decide which productions to share with you family. As a courtesy to all patrons, children under 4 are not permitted in the theatre, unless otherwise noted.
Please call the box office at (916) 557-1999 if you have questions about our Family Guide.
Recommended for theatregoers 12 and over. "Forbidden Broadway" lampoons everyone's favorite show tune lyrics, characters and the actors who play them. Parodies include old and new Broadway shows alike, including "The Lion King," "Annie," "Wicked," "Fiddler on the Roof," and more. The show contains a few moderate expletives and some suggestive body language. Some of the Broadway references may not be understood by children.
Recommended for theatregoers 4 and over. The comedy in "Triple Espresso" will appeal to the young, old and everyone in between. Part musiclal, part magic show, and completely hilarious, "Triple Espresso" is a rags-to-rags story of what three guys did in four minutes to get them banned from show business for life. The show is family-friendly with no offensive content. Both children and adults will relate to and enjoy this comedy.
Recommended for theatregoers 16 and over. "I Love You..." delves into the ups and downs of dating, relationships, marriage... and in-laws. With original songs and hilarious relationship scenarios, the show does contains a few references to sex. The content and jokes may not be relatable to younger audience members.
